the Web Standards Project has formed an Accessibility Task Force. much needed. Molly's got a good list of readings on the matter for anyone who wants to catch up.

Roger Johansson lists reasons for tension between web accessibility and web standards such as "validity alone is no guarantee for accessibility".

but what about the opposite? accessibility is certainly no guarantee for validity. the Swedish Riksdag recently redesigned their website stating that it has been done in accordance with WAI guidelines. yet it fails to impress standards- and accessibility people. it would of course help if it validated, ehum, at least the WAI part...

also, Matt May suggests focusing on the process as a way to save the world.
