theory of relativity

is everything relative? at least pixels are - albeit in a charmingly weird way.

Swedens Government Interoperability Board has laid down guidelines for, amongst other things, Swedish Government Web Sites. the work they do is commendable but like so many they mistake pixels for an absolute lenght unit.

so is everything relative? according to einstein at least all times and positions are relative. to this we add pixels and em's.

but how about absolutes? two of the absolute length units as stated by the w3c:

points — the points used by CSS 2.1 are equal to 1/72th of an inch. picas — 1 pica is equal to 12 points.

seems to me like points are relative to CSS version and picas are relative to points.
